Dogs and animals

Currently the only animals that are allowed on Bay of Plenty bus services are registered disability assistance dogs, such as guide dogs for blind and vision impaired people.

Prams and strollers

We welcome our younger passengers on the bus! Children under 5 travel free, and there’s no extra charge to bring a pram on board. The best time to travel with a pram is during off-peak hours.

Please be aware that some buses have limited space for prams. Space is allocated on a first come, first served basis.

Food and drink

Sorry no, you are not allowed to take food or drink on the bus. This is for the safety of others.

Bikes and scooters

You can travel with your bike on the bus however these must be stored on the external bike racks found on our Tauranga, Whakatane and Rotorua urban buses.

You may bring your scooter (kick-scooter or push-scooter) on board but not if it’s electric. This is due to the potential fire hazard related to the battery.

Surfboards

Sorry, you cannot bring your surfboard on board the bus as they are too large to be safely stored without obstructing aisles and exits.

Large bulky items

You are welcome to bring items on board as long as they can be safely held on your lap or stored without blocking aisles, seats or doorways.

Large or bulky items that cannot be safely carried in this way may not be permitted. Acceptance of large items is always at the driver’s discretion and depends on available space at the time of travel.

Large groups

We love taking groups out on our services but, unfortunately, we cannot guarantee or allocate seating. If you do require certainty, there are many reputable charter bus companies in Tauranga that can easily accommodate large groups.
