Baybus OnDemand trial ends on 18 December
Baybus OnDemand will finish on Friday 18 December 2026. The service will operate as usual until 7pm on its final day.
Regional Council decided through its 2026/27 Annual Plan not to extend the trial. Although the service has been well used and valued by customers, continuing it would require significant ongoing funding.
We know this change will affect people who rely on Baybus OnDemand for their regular travel.
Planning your travel
If you currently use Baybus OnDemand, Route 51 may be a suitable alternative for some trips. Route 51 will start on Monday 7 December, connecting Pyes Pā, local retirement villages and Tauranga Crossing. It will follow a set route and timetable, rather than taking bookings, and will not cover all the journeys currently served by Baybus OnDemand.
You can try Route 51 while both services operate from 7 to 18 December and see whether it meets your travel needs.
