Bus fares are changing
New fares apply from 20 July 2026 for Bay of Plenty urban bus services and Baybus OnDemand.
New adult fares:

Fares are increasing by 3.1%, rounded up to the nearest 10 cents. For most fares, this means an increase of 10 cents, while some cash fares will increase by 20 cents.

Long-distance fares (Katikati-Tauranga, Waihī Beach, Tauranga-Te Puke, Murupara, Rotorua, Ruatāhuna-Rotorua, Whakatāne-Tauranga, Whakatāne-Kawerau, Whakatāne-Matatā, Whakatāne-Ōpōtiki, Ōpōtiki-Potaka) have not changed.
Concessions
Concessions linked to adult fares (Child/Youth, Tertiary, Community Connect, SuperGold before 9am) have increased in line with adult fares.

Free concessions remain, including eligible Child/Youth at peak-time travel on fixed-route services, SuperGold after 9am, the Accessibility Concession and children under five.

No action is needed; fares will update automatically.
To keep your travel costs lower, use your Bee Card and make sure any eligible concession is loaded.
