Bike racks are back

Bike rack use has now been reinstated on all Baybus buses across the region. 

The use of bike racks was temporarily suspended in late 2024 while a national safety issue was reviewed. We’ve since made lighting modifications on our region’s buses to meet safety requirements set by NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi. With those changes complete, the racks are back and ready to use.

How it works

• No bookings are required 
• Most standard bikes can be carried 
• Racks are first-come, first-served 
• Just signal the driver, lift your bike onto the front rack, and hop on board
