Face Coverings on Buses - Mandatory

A reminder that during Alert Level 1 you must legally wear a face covering on public transport - this includes our Bayhopper and Cityride buses. All our drivers will be encouraging you to wear a face covering. Please observe physical distancing at bus stops and terminals however individuals do not need to maintain physical distancing on-board public transport services at Alert Level 1; but passengers are still encouraged to keep their distance from others where possible.

Face coverings do not need to be worn by:

  • children under 12
  • on Blue Bayhopper school buses

Any face covering that adequately covers the mouth and nostrils can be used, these include: single use disposable masks, washable reusable masks (whether purchased or homemade), or other types of face coverings (e.g. a scarf wrapped around the face).

Please see https://covid19.govt.nz/.../protect.../wear-a-face-covering/ for more details.

Passengers using Total Mobility services are not required to wear a face covering (however we do encourage you to). It is mandatory for Total Mobility drivers.
