Public Transport in the Bay of Plenty under COVID-19
The Government has announced that the COVID-19 Protection Framework (CPF) will no longer be in effect from 11.59pm, Monday 12 September 2022.

What does this mean for Public Transport?
- You will no longer be required to wear a face mask on public transport, in or around bus stations.
- You are no longer required to scan the QR code onboard.
Check before you travel
Some Tauranga Baybus bus services are operating on a reduced timetable, Rotorua and Eastern Bays bus services are currently operating as normal.
Short notice cancellations are possible due to staff shortages.
Although we’re working hard to update cancellations in our systems, there may be some occasions when these are last-minute and can’t be communicated in time. We recommend checking service updates on the Transit App: (transitapp.com) and Baybus Website: Baybus: Relax, Take a Bus in the Bay of Plenty before you travel.

Continue to travel in a safe way
- Practice good hygiene habits
- This includes washing and drying your hands thoroughly with soap and water (or hand sanitiser if soap and water is not available).
- Cough and sneeze into your elbow and don’t touch your face
- Please do not travel if you have cold, flu, COVID-19 symptoms or have returned a positive COVID-19 test in the last 7 days
Vehicle cleaning
All public transport vehicles continue to be cleaned regularly.
