Rotorua stop changes
Three new bus stops will be installed around the city during the next month including a specially designed enclosed shelter at the inner city stop on Arawa Street.
The shelter is being installed in response to requests from bus users and surrounding businesses for more shelters at the inner city bus stop.
Another shelter will be attached to the existing one at the Rotorua Central Mall and a third will be installed at the city end of Vaughan Road.
The design of the new 5.5 metre long Arawa Street shelter will be similar to the current designs seen around town but will be fully enclosed to protect people from wet weather and will better accommodate wheelchairs and mobility scooters.
There is enough seating inside the shelter to accommodate 13 to 15 adults and one wheelchair or mobility scooter.
Installation of the new shelters starts on Sunday, April 2nd and is expected to take a week.
To construct the inner city shelter, at the rear of the library building on Arawa Street contractors will remove two trees and lay a concrete pad. While that sets they will move on to the Central Mall shelter and Vaughan Road after that.
