Large print timetables
The Bay of Plenty’s public bus services have become more user-friendly and inclusive with the introduction of large print timetables.
Developed with assistance from The Blind Foundation the large print timetables are intended for people with low vision which makes regular print inaccessible.
According to Carina Duke, Practice Advisor Orientation & Mobility/Adaptive Daily Living Instructor at the Blind Foundation it’s all about inclusiveness and independence.
“Providing information in accessible formats for those who are blind or have low vision gives equal opportunities for accessing information. The Blind Foundation is pleased to have been able to support Bay of Plenty Regional Council in developing their large print timetables; which will enable more people who have low vision to access bus route information and plan their journeys independently,” Mrs Duke said.
In addition to the large print timetables all Bayhopper Tauranga and Cityride Rotorua urban buses are wheelchair accessible with low floors and ramps.
